Why Chiropractic, How Does It Work and Who Can Benefit from Chiropractic?
Why Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is nothing new. Ever since Hippocrates, people have been manipulating the spine to alleviate pain. Chiropractic today has evolved to be one of the largest independent healing professions in the world. It has been extensively researched to prove its safety and efficacy.
How Does Chiropractic Work?
Simply put, chiropractic works by freeing the nervous system of any interference, allowing the body to function more efficiently.
The job of the chiropractor is to find and free any nerve impingement or joint misalignment. Joint misalignment can be caused by one of three things: stress, trauma or chemical toxicity (such as alcohol, caffeine or even medication).
The Central Nervous System controls absolutely everything in our bodies. If for some reason it can’t work freely, then the destination of that nerve is not going to work as it should. For instance, if a nerve root leaving the spinal cord carrying its message to the big toe is impinged or trapped, then that toe may become numb and weak. Release that restriction and things return to normal function.
Who Can Benefit from Chiropractic?
Many people from many professions have been treated at Southsea Chiropractic Clinic. From yoga instructors to athletes, babies to their grandparents, there is no age or profession that is exempt from nerve impingement or joint misalignments.
At Southsea Chiropractic Clinic we make every effort to remove the cause of pain whether it has been there for many years or just a few hours. Many people share our philosophy that ‘prevention is better than cure’ and choose to follow a programme that aims to keep your body healthy and prevent a relapse of the problem at a later date.
